Bae Cheol focuses on the interpretation, suspicion and betrayal of various phenomena in modern society through various imaginations and methods to express them in assorted ways such as paintings and installations. The dichotomous social logic of normal and abnormal pushes him to ask the question about exclusion and violence. He interprets, doubts and explores the phenomena of ‘objective regulation’ using imaginary methods. His ongoing theme is ‘How will I exist amidst the relationship between myself and society?’ In this exhibition, he grows plants grown in soil collected from anonymous land to reconcile with anxiety, pain, and futility toward death. Depression, which feels like an incurable curse in modern society, is given form, and death is transported.
